Small Groups
Small groups work wonders with middle school students. Students in small groups will have a chance to interact with their peers, socialize and gain skills. In my group counseling sessions I play therapeutic games where students have fun and learn at the same time. Each group will meet weekly and groups usually end after 4- 6 sessions. Termination time may vary depending on the individual group’s needs. Parents, guardians, administrators, teachers or students themselves can fill out the referral form (referral forms can be found here , and also can be filled electronically) . BOYS’ EMPOWERMENT GROUP
Let’s face it – those of us who have boys know that they can be a handful. Young boys are full of life, full of energy, and full of hope. It can be hard to grow up male in today’s society. In schools, boys are four times more likely than girls to be diagnosed with ADHD, and boys are more likely to disrupt class than girls, and they are also more likely to do poorly in middle school.
